District heating expertise across the whole network lifecycle

Who am I?

Guillaume Lhermet presenting his thermo-hydraulic simulation work

PhD in fluid mechanics and thermal engineering, with over 2 years of hands-on experience in thermo-hydraulic simulation of district heating networks. I work across the whole network lifecycle — sizing, extension, operational troubleshooting — with proven digital-validation experience, applicable regardless of which simulation software is used.

Areas of expertise

Network sizing & design

Pipe sizing, pump selection, substation design, spare-capacity analysis for new networks.

Network extension & feasibility

Extension studies, load-growth scenarios, integration of new heat sources.

Operational troubleshooting

Diagnosis and resolution of real-world issues on networks already in operation.

Digital validation

Proven model-vs-field validation experience, adaptable to any district heating simulation software.

A technical partner: Fluidit

Work carried out with Fluidit

For these studies, I draw on the technical support of experienced engineers who have worked on generation 2 to 5 district heating networks across Europe.

I also rely on Fluidit Heat, the simulation software developed by Fluidit, a Finnish company specialising in the modelling of urban district heating and cooling networks. The tool performs detailed thermo-hydraulic simulations – in real time as well as over long periods – for sizing installations (production units, pumps, pipes) and for operational support (supply temperature optimisation, scenario testing, backup plans).

This partnership lets me draw on skills and a robust tool, proven on large-scale networks, to run reliable studies regardless of the size of your network.
